As a travel writer, Mia has worked hard to shine a light on the issues she’s passionate about and that are critical to the future of the planet including wildlife conservation, climate change, sustainable tourism and sustainable living, and social impact travels. For much of her career she has sought out opportunities to write stories that document and elevate these issues, supporting communities and people around the world. She traveled to Kenya to spend time on the front lines of wildlife conservation with the rangers at Big Life Foundation; sailed around the Galapagos to learn about the latest eco-tourism efforts, and conducted extensive researching regarding the inhumane treatment of elephants throughout the tourism industry in Asia—an issue she’s particularly dedicated to educating the traveling public about.

Over the past seven years, these have efforts earned Mia nine writing awards from the North American Travel Journalists Association, one of the largest professional associations of travel writers, photographers, editors, and bloggers dedicated to the highest quality of journalism excellence.
